God's Story

THE BIG PICTURE

We noticed that GEN Z really wants Jesus, but there doesn't seem to be enough discipleship happening to nurture the seeds of their faith into mighty oaks in the Kingdom.

Without the support of discipleship we saw people fall into sin, fall away from the faith, give way to rebellion, and lose their fire for God.

One night we were discussing the importance of discipleship and we felt the Lord challenging us to do something about it with what we had, our house.

We nervously accepted the challenge and immediately began planning every aspect of what we could do out on a yellow notepad. Everything from seating, to sponsors, and the outline of the meetings were written and prayed over. By the time we finished planning, we were so excited!

We sought some counsel from our pastors, and a few mentors in the faith, and asked for their wisdom and prayer. They all said they saw the need as well and felt God wanted us to pursue this.

About a week later, we visited our former college and sat in on a campus ministry we have ties with and had been a part of. After the meeting, we took a leap of faith and invited a host of students who we didn't know, and who didn't know us.

We planned to feed them tacos, and so we cooked, and so nervously waited for students to DM us for rides and to tell us they were coming. Meeting started at 7, and by 6 no one had said a word.

We thought, "no one's coming". I remember Kingsley stating, "At least we meal prepped." We decided if only 1 student showed up, we would still teach.

By 6:30, 6:45, one by one students began to send DMs and asked for rides. We were then, rushing to make sure everything was set in place. At that first meeting, we had 9 students. Then donations started coming in. We would need a LOT more chairs.

By the end of the semester, we had 16. In the second semester, we had between 14-16 regular attendees. Today we have over 30 students in our group chat who attend interchangeably. We need a LOT more food.

This has blessed us incredibly, and we have also witnessed exponential growth in so many of our students, that we are blown away with what God did with what little we had.
